What does Defying Gravity mean?
Many people have asked me what Defying Gravity means, and how it relates to cupcakes.
I’m not sure it does, actually. But, the song Defying Gravity (watch here!) from the musical Wicked means a lot to me, and has inspired me to begin my own business and follow a passion that I have for baking.
In the song, the lead character, Elphaba, decides to take a new path in life even though it would be risky and against everything she knew. She sings that, “It’s time to trust my instincts, close my eyes, and leap.”
After 20 years in banking, I decided I needed a change. So I’ve trusted my instincts, returned to school to get an Associate’s Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, and am starting my own business. What a leap!
